YOUTH4CLIMATE AWARD

Feion Green Ventures is proud to announce that our CEO, Mercy M. Kyalo, has been recognized with the prestigious Youth4Climate 2024 Award under the Sustainable Energy theme! This honor, awarded by the UNDP Rome Centre and the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, celebrates our commitment to pioneering clean cooking solutions that address pressing environmental and health challenges in schools across Kenya.

The award ceremony, held on October 26, 2024, in Turin, Italy, brought together inspiring young climate leaders from around the globe. Mercy’s visionary leadership and Feion Green Ventures’ innovative approach to clean energy solutions stood out among projects addressing critical areas such as Sustainable Energy, Climate & Environmental Literacy, and Food & Agriculture.

In her acceptance speech, Mercy shared:
“I’m incredibly honored to be recognized as a Youth4Climate Awardee under the Sustainable Energy theme. This initiative provides up to USD 30,000 in support to young innovators like myself, enabling us to scale impactful climate solutions. Our project at Feion Green Ventures directly addresses deforestation and environmental degradation caused by firewood-dependent cooking in Kenyan schools. By promoting clean, efficient electric cooking solutions, we are reducing emissions, improving health, and fostering a shift toward sustainable energy adoption in educational institutions.”

The Youth4Climate (Y4C) initiative is a global platform that supports youth-led and youth-inclusive solutions to climate challenges, both financially and through capacity building. By fostering inclusive, safe, and enabling environments for young leaders, Y4C enables them to implement innovative climate actions with sustained impact. Mercy joins a cohort of changemakers dedicated to advancing the fight against climate change and promoting sustainable practices worldwide.

This recognition reinforces Feion Green Ventures’ mission to revolutionize institutional cooking through clean energy innovations, tackling critical issues like deforestation, health hazards from traditional cooking methods, and the energy demands of schools. The Jiko-Kul Electric Pressure Cooker, our flagship solution, is at the forefront of this effort, offering an affordable and efficient alternative to firewood-based cooking. The event also fostered valuable connections, with Mercy engaging in partnership discussions with other global leaders, as well as representatives from the National Youth Caucus Kenya. These collaborations promise to accelerate Feion’s mission and amplify its impact across Kenya and beyond. As we celebrate this milestone, Feion Green Ventures remains steadfast in our commitment to providing sustainable solutions that drive meaningful change. Together, we look forward to a cleaner, healthier, and more equitable future.
